Undergraduate Program (Mandarin-Taught Program)
※The target students of this program are students holding a ROC nationality (Taiwanese students) and Overseas Chinese students, while international degree students are NOT eligible to apply for this program. ※
The courses at NTUST are divided into three main categories:
- General Required Courses
- Mechanical Engineering Professional Required Courses
- Elective Courses Outside of Mechanical Engineering
The characteristics of each category and the standards for calculating graduation credits are as follows:
- General Required Courses: According to NTUST regulations (refer to the Office of Academic Affairs > Curriculum Division > Course Information > General Required Courses List), students with student numbers starting from B103 (inclusive) and onward are required to complete 34 credits.
- Mechanical Engineering Professional Required Courses: Courses with course codes beginning with "ME" must be completed total 72 credits (refer Note 1). There is no maximum for electives, but the minimum number of elective credits required is 22.
- Elective Courses Outside of Mechanical Engineering: Courses with course codes not starting with "ME" are classified as electives outside the Mechanical Engineering discipline. However, courses with the "EP" course code (Education Program courses) will not count toward the credit requirement.
Graduation Credit Calculation (Standard):
Required Courses (34) + Mechanical Engineering Required Courses (72) + Mechanical Engineering Electives (≥ 22) + External Department Courses (n)
Total ≥ 133 credits
Note 1: For students in the four-year general program, the 72 credits of Mechanical Engineering Professional Required Courses include:

Note (1): Students with a background from a general high school are exempt from taking the chemistry course. They can substitute it with a total of 3 credits, which includes 1 credit for Machine Shop Practice and 2 credits for Graphics.
Note (2): Students who choose elective Lab. Training Course offered by the M.E. department may begin taking them earlier.
Note (3): Starting from the 100 academic year, "Basics of Mathematics (I)" is a mandatory course for all first-year students in the College of Engineering. Students who pass the Introductory Mathematics Proficiency Test may be exempt from this course.
